Biography: Thiago Tavares Nunes de Oliveira is the SaferNet Brazil founder and President, where coordinate the Brazilian National Cybercrime Reporting Center since 2005. Prior to that, Thiago has involved in leading nationwide social projects in the field of human rights on cyberspace and also conducted an empirical research to map the fighting against child sexual abuse online in Brazil between 1998 and 2005. On begining of 2008, he was appointed by the Brazilian Senate as Special Adviser on child online safety issues, and has been working on the draft of the new bills of law regarding Internet Governance and child online protection rights in Brazil. One of this bill of law that he wrote the draft was unanimity approved by the National Congress and sancioned by the President Lula in november, 2008 (Federal Law n. 11829/08). He is founder member of the Brazilian Telecom and Mobile Operator Taskforce on Child Online Safety as well founder member of Brazilian Financial Coalition on Child Online Protection. Thiago is also part-time Cyberlaw Professor at the Catholic University of Salvador, Brazil, from where he holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and become the second-ever youngest professor of the University history. Thiago algo holds a Bachelor in Business and Managment and also a Master in Social Science and Development degrees from Federal University of Bahia. Thiago´s thesis (summa cum laude) is called: ¨Child pornography on Google´s Orkut: from the omission to the new regulation and social control instruments established in Brazil between 2005 and 2008¨ On march 2009, he was invited by the US Department of State to visit the main US institutions working on child online protection issues, and share his experience in four international seminars within 1200 judges, prosecuters and police officers in Brazil.
