Concise Description:
The last few years have seen a tremendous growth of the mobile revolution in the Third World countries like China and India. The total number of mobile users in these countries have far outstripped the total number of landline users. The use of mobile devices, platforms as also Mobile data and and their interplay with the Internet and various applications connected therewith, can have a direct impact upon the furtherance of the cause of Internet Governance. However, there are a lot of complicated legal challenges pertaining to the use of mobile platforms, mobile data, mobile devices and their interpplay with Internet and relevant applications. The proposed workshop shall touch upon various legal policy and regulatory considerations that need to be kept in mind to further ensure that the mobile platforms and Mobile devices can play a far more inclusive role in the further growth of Internet governance. Internet governance has to rely upon Mobile revolution and its interplay with the Internet,to further its own cause. However however various legal challenges and policy considerations still remain to be sorted out. The present workshop shall aim to look at some of these important challenges in this regard. It is expected that various speakers would be invited from different mobile companies and other relevant players in the mobile ecosystem.
