Title: Open Forum: ITU Open Forum on Cybersecurity

Concise Description:
The legal, technical and institutional challenges posed by the issue of cybersecurity are global and far-reaching, and can only be addressed through a coherent strategy taking into account the role of different stakeholders and existing initiatives, within a framework of international cooperation.

A fundamental role of ITU, following the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the 2006 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference is to build confidence and security in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).  At the second phase of WSIS in Tunis in 2005, ITU was entrusted to take the lead as the sole facilitator for Action Line C5, “Building confidence and security in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs)”.

This Open Forum will look at ITU initiatives in the domain of Cybersecurity, including areas such as (but not limited to):

Role of Standardization in Cybersecurity.
