Peter H. Hellmonds
Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Nokia Siemens Networks

photo for peter Peter Hellmonds has been Head of Corporate Social Responsibility since the start of Nokia Siemens Networks in April 2007. For the first year he was also the company’s acting Ethics Officer.

Complementing his successful business career that began in 1977, Peter worked with the World Bank (1992-1994), the World Economic Forum Digital Divide Initiative (2001), the G8 Digital Opportunities Task Force (DOT Force, 2002), and the United Nations Information and Communications Technologies Task Force (2002-2005). Peter was as a member of the German government delegation in both parts of the World Summit on the Information Society (Geneva, 2003 and Tunis, 2005).

In early 2006, Peter was appointed to the Commission on E-Business, Information Technologies and Telecommunications of the International Chamber of Commerce, and to the Communications Expert Group of the German UNESCO Commission. He served two terms in the multi-stakeholder advisory group for the Internet Governance Forum, and has been reappointed to a second two-year terms in the strategy council of the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development. 

Peter has been a member of the Public Affairs working group of BITKOM, the German ICT industry association since 2002, and worked on national ICT projects as Executive Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of the Initiative D21 (2004-2006). From 2006-2008, he has been Chairman of the German Broadband Initiative.

Peter holds degrees from the diplomacy schools of Georgetown (SFS), Johns Hopkins (SAIS) and Princeton University (WWS).
