Agenda of the Meeting |

The OECD proposes to host an IGF workshop on digital broadband content developments and strategies and associated policies. Policy principles have been developed by the OECD to underpin digital content development, access and use, and to provide and inform the context for policy discussion, analysis, review and development. The digital content principles are grouped under three main themes which provide a framework for discussion at the Workshop: 1) Promoting an enabling environment, 2) Enhancing the infrastructure and 3) Fostering the business and regulatory climate (refer question 4 greater detail on each of these areas) |

The OECD brings together 30 governments of countries committed to democracy and the market economy from around the world. The OECD also shares expertise and exchanges views with more than 100 other countries. In May 2007, OECD countries agreed to invite Chile, Estonia, Israel, Russia and Slovenia to open discussions for membership of the Organisation and offered enhanced engagement, with a view to possible membership, to Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and South Africa. The OECD has worked with a wide variety of stakeholder communities on the subject of Digital Content to prepare its digital content principles. This includes business, organised labour, civil society and academia including in a series of workshops. Partners will be drawn from these communities to organise the workshop and the panel. |
