Online Workshop Proposal Instructions

Thank you for your interest in submitting a workshop proposal. Before you begin your online workshop proposal, please make sure you have read the workshops information page to learn about the organizational principles, the content and format, the selection criteria, and the template for submitting proposals.

In the spirit of transparency and accessibility, the online workshop proposal system was designed to make it easy for presenters to submit proposals and to allow all stakeholders to review and comment on the proposals that are submitted.

In brief the steps to submitting a proposal are:

  1. Create an account: You will be asked for a small amount of information about yourself so that we may contact you about your proposal if necessary.
  2. Activate your account: To verify that the email address we received is accurate, after creating your account you will receive an email with a code that you will use to activate your account.
  3. Log in: Use your email address and password that you supplied when creating your account to log in. If you forget your password, you can visit the change password page to select a new one.
  4. Create and edit your proposal(s): This is the main part of the process in which you create your proposal using the template described on the workshops information page. You may choose to type your answers directly into the form or paste them from a word processor. Please note that all formatting except basic formatting (i.e, bold, italics, underline, bullets and numbered lists) will be lost when submitting your proposal. You may also choose to enter your proposal in one session or fill it in little by little. Your proposal is automatically saved as you respond to questions, and you may edit it as much as you like before submitting it.
  5. Submit your proposal: When you have answered all of the questions, a submit button will appear. If you have finished editing your proposal you can click this button to submit the proposal to the Secretariat. Note that once you have submitted your proposal, you will no longer be able to edit it.
  6. Review by the Secretariat: After submitting your proposal, the IGF Secretariat will check it for consistancy with the criteria from the workshops information page and if required provide advice and assistace or link up supporters of similar proposals. All proposals found consistant with these criteria will be published on the website. A final selection will be made at the meeting of the advisory group on the 7-8 September.
