Gjorgjinski, Ljupco Jivan

Mr. L. Jivan Gjorgjinski will bring to the Multistakeholder Advisory Group on Internet Governance: experience in policy-making at all levels of governance, from the municipal to the global; a pragmatic, results-focused mindset; a hands-on experience in Internet Governance issues, dating back to the preparation for the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva (WSIS I).
Jivan Gjorgjinski advised the President of Macedonia on Information Society issues and participated early in the WSIS I preparatory process. He accompanied President Trajkovski in Geneva and prepared the national position for WSIS I. He then worked as a project manager and tutor for DiploFoundation’s Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme. He went to WSIS II in Tunis and the IGF in Athens with the Diplo team.
Mr. Gjorgjinski infused the insights of how complex, multistakeholder governance can function – gained from his experience in the IG debate – in his later work for the UNDP and the broader UN family in Macedonia. He managed the groundbreaking Blue Ribbon Report in Macedonia (which outlined the economic policies that have formed the backbone of three successive Macedonian governments), as well as the National Development Plan (a comprehensive plan of public investments for the period 2007-12), the EU Convergence Study (outlining the policies desirable to complement the EU Acquis for the softest possible convergence with the EU) and many others, as project manager and then Programme Officer for Decentralisation and Good Governance with the UNDP. His last post was Coordination and Monitoring Officer for the most multistakeholder UN programme in Macedonia to-date, involving three UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO), three line ministries, a dozen municipalities, business associations, and more than twenty NGOs.
Mr. Gjorgjinski’s is currently a diplomat working as a Senior Advisor in the Multilateral Affairs Directorate in the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
