IGF 2018 LIGHTNING SESSION #19 Improving the Security of Consumer IoT: A New Code of Practice

As we connect more devices in our homes to the internet, the cyber security of these products is now as important as the physical security of our homes.

In October 2018, the UK Government published a new Code of Practice for Consumer IoT Security (https://gov.uk/government/publications/secure-by-design). Its aim is to support industry with a set of guidelines to ensure products are secure be design and to make it easier for people to stay secure in a digital world. The Code has been published in eight languages.

The guidelines within the Code of Practice can inform policy interventions on IoT security across the globe.
