Policy Question(s)

Assessing Internet governance approaches and mechanisms and fostering inclusiveness: What are the main strengths and weaknesses of existing Internet governance approaches and mechanisms? What can be done, and by whom, to foster more inclusive Internet governance at the national, regional and international levels?
Governance and cooperation for an evolving Internet: How does Internet governance need to change in order to meet the changing nature and role of the Internet? What tools, mechanisms, and capacity building instruments are needed for stakeholders to effectively cooperate, and engage in Internet governance?

Questions: AI industry is facing multi-dimensional problems and challenges of national laws, regulations, and industry development at the macro level and micro level of internal governance of AI enterprises. How can all stakeholders cooperate to participate in AI governance? In the deepening reform of artificial intelligence governance system, cutting-edge technology is expanding the coverage of all kinds of production and life scenes. What are the current situations, challenges and opportunities of computer vision artificial intelligence technology in the application of industrial scenes?

Challenges: the national and industrial AI standards need to be issued, and the regulatory governance standards need to be clear; The supervision system lags behind the development of technology, and the one-way supervision of the government cannot effectively control the risk; The internal governance and compliance management system of AI enterprises has not yet formed an industry standard; International governments and business circles have not yet formed a consensus on the development of artificial intelligence.

Opportunities: the construction of visual intelligence differentiation and customization in manufacturing industry will focus on meeting the diversified needs of different enterprises. While improving the work efficiency and accuracy of manufacturing enterprises, the corresponding intelligent quantitative evaluation system will be established to verify the application effect of visual artificial intelligence and help the public sector to supervise and manage; All stakeholders should strengthen global cooperation and international mechanism construction in the field of artificial intelligence, avoid conflicts, collaborate together, enabling all countries to achieve faster development and common prosperity through technological means.

SDGs

9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
11. Sustainable Cities and Communities

Targets: Visual AI Empowering Industrial Manufacturing Renovation has direct positive externality promoting SDG9 Industry, Innovation and infrastructure, elevating the efficiency of industrial production, operation, and application. Secondly, Visual AI also facilitates the development of sustainable cities and communities through applying reshaping the urban management means, management mode, and management concept from digitalization to intellectualization, promoting the modernization of urban governance system and governance capacity.

Description:

With the continuous innovation and application of new generation of information technology such as artificial intelligence, the production and management mode of manufacturing industry has undergone fundamental changes, especially when the
intelligent and digital transformation and industry upgrading of enterprises have become new opportunities. How will visual artificial intelligence, with the technology core of computer vision, upgrade traditional manufacturing, improve productivity efficiency, reduce energy consumption and carbon emission, and build urban intelligent network and supply chain reshaped by the Internet of things has become a hot topic. From deep learning at the software level to the spread of intelligent robots and devices at the hardware level, cutting-edge science and technology are advancing to promote the development of industrial Internet, bring challenges for the modernization of IG capacity and development of IG ecosystems, and specification of the roadmap moving towards a more comprehensive, sustainable, and inclusive direction of AI application. To this end, stakeholders will be invited to discuss the valuable experience and challenges in the application of visual artificial intelligence.

Expected Outcomes

The session synthesizes the suggestions of panelists from different groups of stakeholders, forming a guideline for internet governance of AI application and development framework of industrial manufacture implicated by AI industry.
Finally, panelists will jointly launch an Initiative of AI Industry Application Principle supported by a list of AI companies and other organizations of civil society in China.

We will hold an on-site event in Beijing, inviting three of the speakers to join in person and another speaker based in Poland joining online. We will also invite around 100 participants to attend this workshop in person, giving both online and on-site participants equal opportunities to raise questions for speakers and comment.

Online Participation

Usage of IGF Official Tool. Additional Tools proposed: Tencent Meeting Application. We are planning to use it to invite domestic participants in China virtually joining the panel.
