Markovic, Slobodan

Since February 2013, Mr. Markovic is employed at the Serbian National Internet Domain Registry (RNIDS) as Advisor for ICT Policy and Internet Community Relations. Among his duties, he organises outreach campaigns and public debates on issues such as IPv6, IANA transition, cyber-security etc.

He established the first Serbian ICT Policy NGO - Center for Internet Development - where he implemented a number of advocacy, outreach and capacity building projects (2001-2011). Since 2001, he has been involved with formation of Serbian ccTLD registry, where he served as Board Member (2006-2009).  

He has an extensive knowledge of technical fundamentals and various legal aspects of ICTs -- telecommunications infrastructure, freedom of expression and privacy, consumer rights etc. He possess a valuable first-hand experience in building consensus in multi-stakeholder environments, as well as in advocating for positive change in Internet-related legislation before various national and international bodies. He is also familiar with the workings of ICANN and other key Internet organisations, such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the Internet Society (ISOC), Réseaux IP Européens (RIPE), etc. He worked at the Serbian Ministry for Telecommunications and Information Society (2008-2012), where he advised the Minister on telecommunications liberalisation, e-government and e-business policies. He was also the Serbian representative to the Governmental Advisory Commitee (GAC) of ICANN. He was nominated by the ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom) to serve at the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) Council (2005-2008).
