The IGF 2021 focuses on youth engagement in all its processes, including the intersessional work and the 16th IGF in Katowice. Young people from all parts of the world will have several opportunities to network and learn more about Internet governance.

As the community-led programme section featuring the IGF 2021 preparatory and engagement phase, the YouthxPolicyMakers series of workshops aims to facilitate dialogues between young people and experienced digital policy experts and activists on topics such as the Internet governance ecosystem, access and accessibility, content and media, trust, security and protection of vulnerable groups.

These workshops are implemented by the German Informatics Society and supported by the IGF Secretariat and Polish Youth IGF.

During the first workshop hosted on 31 August, participants are introduced to the basic history and structures of Internet governance, in order to understand the opportunities and challenges of different stakeholders in the ecosystem. The session consists of two input blocks of 25 minutes each, and is followed by a networking and output session in breakout rooms.
