ZHANG Xiao shared her point view of digital economy as well as the development of sharing economy in China. She has argued that the blooming of sharing economy in China is a result of the proliferation of mobile devices, demographic bonus, exemplary effect, and consumption upgrade. It is concluded 4 Characteristics of sharing economy as Strong Connection, Big Data, Strong Platform, and Strong Innovation. With the help of IoT and AI technology, sharing economy will continue to thrive and evolve, and shape our future life.
The maion topic of Michael Kende is the regulatory issues raised by the sharing economy. During his keynote, he took taxi industry in New York as an example, illustrated the conflicts and confrontations between sharing economy business model and traditional service industries. He has also stated that the development speed of economy governance and regulations is not mismatching the rapid development of sharing economy. Therefore, the new platform industry companies enjoy greater freedom right now which is devastating to traditional industries.
Prof. CUI Baoguo has introduced sharing economy models in China and social problems brought by this new economy pattern, including unemployment, city management, credibility, and bankruptcy after the investment fever. He summarized three key words to describe sharing economy: Mobile devices, excessive capacity, and temporary release of right of use. He suggested that a bottom-up multistakeholder model should be established to facilitate the enactment of regulations in the age of sharing economy.
- Please describe the Discussions that took place during the workshop session (3 paragraphs):
The panel discussion went in an open and productive manner. Jovan Kurbalija argued that public focus has already smoothly experienced an on-going transition from operation efficiency and cost efficiency to security, credibility, and fairness on the topic of sharing economy that might speed up government legislative process regarding sharing economy.
KATOH Masanobu and Prof. ZHOU Xiang have shared the panel with quite different models of sharing economy, including the sharing of innovation, intelligence, and ideas, which means human intelligence works as a sharing tool to help the transaction from technology to the real application. Due to the sharing platform, it is quite positive effect generated from information service and data sharing to the technology innovation. Prof. ZHANG Rui also showcased the application of sharing economy in film industry, as computing capability now can be shared to provide low-cost rendering services.
In the Q&A Session, Participants agreed that Internet has exemplified the contradiction between efficiency and stability, regulation and development, competition and monopoly. Such exemplification also applies to sharing economy. Panellists also raised quite a lot questions and discussed with participants about the potential negative impact of the development of sharing economy on SDGs and society as well as the evaluation method of the social impact of sharing economy.

Participants have suggested that more observation is required on sharing economy as the investment fever in this sector is gradually receding. More social problems will appear until a self-sustaining sharing economy business pattern is established.
Current governance pattern is unable to catch up with the rapid development of sharing economy thus proved to be devastating to traditional service industries. Collaborative Governance with multi-stakeholders' participation can effectively relieve the tension.
Considering the quite a lot companies born on the basis of sharing economy bankrupt recently, more efforts should be made for sharing economy businesses to eliminate waste and increase efficiency in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
