The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) has increasingly sought to strengthen the participation of the private sector in discussions on some of the most pressing issues related to the use, evolution, and governance of the Internet and digital technologies. The IGF Business Engagement is a dedicated programme that brings together senior business leaders, industry associations, entrepreneurs, and corporate policy experts to engage in focused dialogue, exchange experiences, and contribute private sector perspectives in the lead-up to and during the annual IGF meeting.
The Business Engagement covers a broad range of digital policy issues from the private sector perspective, including digital infrastructure investment, AI accountability, data governance, cybersecurity, platform regulation, and the role of business in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Objectives
- Foster dialogue and cooperation between the private sector and other IGF stakeholders, governments, civil society, and the technical community, on Internet and digital governance issues.
- Raise awareness and understanding within the business community of key developments, challenges, and emerging trends related to the Internet and digital technologies, including their implications for trade, innovation, and regulation.
- Strengthen engagement by supporting knowledge-sharing, peer learning, and practical collaboration on digital policy issues relevant to the private sector.
