Supporting stakeholder engagement in NRIs processes
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development underlines the potential of information and communications technology and global interconnectedness to accelerate human progress, bridge the digital divide and develop knowledge societies, as does scientific and technological innovation across areas as diverse as medicine and energy. This potential is dependent on good digital policies, which is the priority for the national, regional and youth IGF processes. And on this journey to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable development, the role of national parliaments, as well as of governments and public institutions is essential. This high goal of long-term transforming our world is the reason for active engagement of parliaments and governments in the multistakeholder processes of the NRIs.
NRIs Brochures & Resources
The network of over 180 NRIs, in close cooperation with the IGF Secretariat has developed two brochures to support understanding and engagement with National, Regional, Sub-regional and Youth IGF Initiatives (NRIs). The short version provides a quick overview of what NRIs are and why they matter, while the extended version offers a more comprehensive insight into their role, structure and impact across the global Internet governance ecosystem.
These materials can be used by NRIs and any other stakeholders for outreach, capacity development, and engagement with local communities and decision-makers.
Translations into several other languages are currently being prepared by volunteers from the NRIs network.
