The IGF is a global multistakeholder platform that facilitates the discussion of public policy issues pertaining to the Internet.

About the IGF

The Internet Governance Forum brings people together from various stakeholder groups as equals, in discussions on public policy issues relating to the Internet. While there is no negotiated outcome, the IGF informs and inspires those with policy-making power in both the public and private sectors — helping delegates exchange information and share good practices, and facilitating a common understanding of how to maximize opportunities and address risks.

How can I engage?

IGF 2026

The IGF 2026 process is underway, with preparations for the 21st annual IGF meeting and the 2026 intersessional work programme. This year's meeting will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 14 to 18 December 2026, under the overarching theme, “Governing the Internet in the Age of Intelligence: Our Shared Responsibility”. It will be the first gathering of the global multistakeholder community following the United Nations General Assembly's decision to establish the IGF as a permanent UN forum (A/RES/80/173). Building on the outcomes of the previous 20 IGF meetings, the 2026 process will continue to advance inclusive, multistakeholder dialogue on Internet governance and digital policy issues.
