Cathrine Bloch Veiberg - Chief Adviser, Business, human rights and technology, the Danish Institute for Human Rights

Cathrine leads the work of the Institute to support and promote the human rights due diligence of business, investors, and state actors when engaging in economic activities (such as procurement or investments) throughout their global value chains.

Cathrine has led, conducted, and supported human rights impact assessments (HRIA) and other human rights assessment processes with companies on their global operations and at site level across several continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America). Cathrine was also involved in drafting the guidance and toolbox on human rights impact assessment of the Danish Institute for Human Rights. Cathrine also provided review and co-authored two of the chapters for the Handbook on Human Rights Impact Assessment, one of these with an emphasis on HRIA for internet infrastructure providers. Cathrine also worked on the development of guidance on human rights impact assessment for the digital business activities. Cathrine led the facilitation of the Action Coalition on Responsible Technology during the 2022 year of action of the Danish Government Tech for Democracy Initiative.

Finally, Cathrine leads the work of the Institute on policy and regulatory developments on responsible development and deployment of technology by private sector and state actors, as well as the responsible investment in tech by financial institutions.
