IGF 2024 Youth Track

To further develop the IGF Youth Strategy, and continue engaging youth in IGF processes, the IGF ‎Secretariat, in collaboration with the current IGF Host Country and all Youth IGF ‎coordinators, is designing and implementing the IGF Youth Track as a capacity development activity implemented throughout the year-round IGF ‎process including at the annual IGF meeting. The 2024 track builds on the achievements and outputs made during the IGF 2022 Youth Track and IGF 2023 Youth Track. Close cooperation with several international ‎youth-centric organizations is sought.

The IGF 2024 Youth Track is focused on the governance of Artificial Intelligence. Learn more about the track's structure further below and subscribe to a dedicated mailing list

IGF 2024 Youth Track

Focus on Artificial Intelligence

Building on the demand from young people, as well as on the outputs of last year’s IGF 2023 Youth Track and the Messages from Youth, the IGF 2024 aims to create a set of activities ‎to connect youth from around the world among themselves, but also to inter-connect youth and senior ‎stakeholders - experts in Internet governance.

Following the outputs that emerged from the previous youth track editions focused on digital transformation and a safe digital future, this year's IGF Youth Track will unpack Artificial Intelligence (AI) issues of importance to youth and for youth. Specifically, youth engagement activities will aim to:‎

  • Develop capacity on the overall concept of AI governance, focusing on opportunities and ‎opportunities and challenges digital tech brings to policy shapers and makers;
  • Establish networking among young people from around the world; and
  • Support cooperation among youth-focused initiatives involved or interested in Internet ‎governance across the world.

The track will be composed of several capacity development workshops delivered by experts on various aspects under the umbrella theme of AI governance. There will be several opportunities to guide engagement in the IGF processes. The workshops will be delivered in a hybrid format at several regional IGF meetings, as per the schedule below which is being updated as workshop details are confirmed. Workshops are linked to a mini-repository of useful materials and sources of knowledge. All participants are strongly encouraged to consult this resource before and after the workshop takes place. If interested in connecting with the Youth IGF coordinators, please visit the list of youth IGF coordinators and approach the IGF Secretariat to connect you. The coordinators can further connect interested stakeholders with youth from their communities.
