In order to build a long-term engagement between various communities and Internet Governance Forum (IGF), as well as to build and strengthen the overall capacity on Internet governance processes at the local and with that the global levels, the capacity development workshops are organized in close collaboration with the community, which can include the NRIs or schools on Internet governance, among others.
Overall, the objectives to achieve through the workshops relate to:
- Long-term engagement of the traditionally un(der)represented communities at the IGF in its intersessional work streams and annual meeting
- Strengthening of the multistakeholder multiregional participation in IGF’s processes
- Providing more visibility to the intersessional workstreams of the IGF
The workshops are usually hosted on the margins of the national or regional NRIs meetings. For 2021, given the COVID-19 pandemic constraints, the workshops were delivered online as per the 2021 schedule. The planning for IGF 2023 is underway.
