Targets: SDG 16: This session seeks to highlight the need to create an inclusive digital ecosystem for youth to harness the opportunity the Internet and other technologies provide highlighting the achievements' of the Alumni. SDG 4: This session takes a look at the Internet Governance issues, creates awareness, and builds the capacity of youth to know their rights to be able to defend them. The outcome of this session will produce an article and workshop presentations will educate the youth on their data privacy rights.

Format

Gathering. Presentation of Distinguished Members of the Alumni Network (10 mins): We will acknowledge the exceptional contributions of our members, celebrating their impact in the realm of Internet governance. Highlights of the 2023 Monthly Workshops (20 mins): We will revisit the outcomes of our monthly workshops held throughout 2023, sharing key insights from each. Topics include opportunities in Internet governance with Tracy Hachshaw, Internet fragmentation with Farzaneh Badiei, interplanetary networks with Vint Cerf, AI governance and policies with Oarabile Mudongo, and community networks and satellite networks with Jane Coffin. ISOC Alumni Coffee Chats with Lily (10 mins): Lily will discuss the importance of these informal meetings, their role in fostering a sense of community, and how they facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences within the network. Discussion on Huddles with Theorose (10 mins): Theorose will talk about the internal meetings held with the alumni at various regional IGFs, ICANN, and RightsCon, highlighting their significance in promoting active engagement and collaboration. Wrap-up and Next Steps (5 mins): We will conclude the session by discussing future plans for the ISOC Alumni Network and the ways participants can get involved.

Join us for an engaging exploration of the ISOC Alumni Network's role in Internet governance. Our one-hour hybrid session is designed to foster collaboration, celebrate the success of Alumni, share knowledge, and highlight the extraordinary contributions of our distinguished Alumni. We aim to empower attendees with resources and insights, enabling them to navigate the complex landscape of Internet governance effectively.

Participants will gain insights into the work of the ISOC Alumni Network, the impact of our distinguished members, and the outcomes of our 2023 monthly workshops. They will also learn about the ISOC Alumni Coffee Chats and Huddles, and how these platforms promote collaboration and engagement within the network. The session aims to inspire attendees to play a more active role in the field of Internet governance, fostering a sense of shared purpose and empowering them to make a positive impact in their respective areas of expertise.
