IGF 2026 Thematic Input
The open Call for Thematic Input invited stakeholders from across the world to contribute their perspectives on the most pressing issues, priorities, and challenges in the governance of digital technologies. These contributions helped inform the development of the overarching theme and subthemes of the IGF 2026 meeting, as well as the design of the programme and the identification of priorities for intersessional work. As part of the submissions, stakeholders were also invited to propose ideas for intersessional work (Policy Networks and Best Practice Forums) that could be carried out in the lead-up to IGF 2026.
All thematic input received are published here on the IGF website. The list of intersessional work proposals submitted by stakeholders can be accessed here.
Parliamentary Track
The IGF Parliamentary Track is a dedicated programme designed to strengthen the role of parliaments in shaping digital policies informed by the broader multistakeholder community. The track will continue its activities in 2026, with collaborative sessions at the various regional and annual IGF meetings, and will expand partnerships with interested stakeholders.
Judiciary Engagement
The IGF introduced a Judiciary engagement as a dedicated space for members of the judiciary to engage in focused dialogue, exchange experiences, and contribute judicial perspectives in the lead-up to and during the annual IGF meeting. Building on this foundation, the IGF will expand its judicial intersessional activities that foster dialogue and cooperation on key digital policy issues, support capacity development, and contribute to more action-oriented outcomes across regions and legal systems. About IGF
The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a global multistakeholder platform that facilitates discussions on public policy issues pertaining to Internet governance. The IGF was one of the most important outcomes of the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) that mandated the United Nations Secretary-General to formally convene the Forum.
Institutionally, the IGF is supported by the IGF Secretariat, administered by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), while the programme of the annual IGF meeting is developed by the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG).
The Secretary-General’s appointed Leadership Panel strategically promotes greater impact and dissemination of the IGF discussions.
Within IGF’s framework of intersessional work and annual meetings, stakeholders coming from all disciplines (e.g. governments, private sector, civil society and technical communities) and from all parts of the world are discussing public digital policy, networking and exchanging best practices for an open, safer and accessible Internet for all.
