Policy Question(s)

A. What are the paths for youth to participate in internet governance?
B. Which topics are often discussed by young people in the process of internet governance?
C. Can some models be formed to help young people better participate in global internet governance?

What will participants gain from attending this session? Firstly, the ways and methods for youth to participate in the internet. Through relevant discussions, participants will have a deeper understanding of the ways and methods of youth participation in internet governance, and promote a deeper understanding through interactive communication at the global level.
Secondly, the specific topics and content of youth participation in internet governance. At present, although youth participation in internet governance is advocated at the global level, there is a lack of topic analysis on a global scale. The organizers will organize and discuss topics related to youth participation in internet governance before the meeting for discussion
Thirdly, explore the model of youth participation in internet governance. There is currently a lack of systematic exploration of models for youth participation in global internet governance. The conference can preliminarily form a participation model for young people in internet governance for future exploration.

Description:

Worldwide, young people increasingly depend on the Internet to build skills, create economic value, build communities, and take ownership of their human experience. Many of them will engage with and form a sizable percentage of youth in cyberspace. Even so, unless some things are done differently, they will enjoy barely enough representation in policy conversations affecting the shared resource of the Internet, affecting their lives.
The purpose of this session is to clarify the path, content of discussion, and initial model of youth participation in global Internet governance in recent years. Sharing thematerial collected on youth participation in Internet governance worldwide, the design of Model IGF, we want to form a simple and clear participation way for young people around the world to facilitate their participation in Internet governance.
Started duringthe IGF Youth Ambassador Program 2022, the first edition of the toolkit will be presented to the audience to collect feedback and opinions how to improve it. Further, it is to be shared with Internet Society, and regional, national, and youth organisations in the Internet Governance area.

Expected Outcomes

1. A Participation handbook. The hand book includes three parts:the paths of youth participation in Internet governance worldwide, the content that has been discussed or the sources of content that can be referred to, and the youth governance participation model formed by the content of the discussion and the path of participation.
2.Concept Paper of the Model of the Internet Governance Forum (Model IGF) .
Model of the Internet Governance Forum (Model IGF) is necessary to develop to address the lack of awareness on the Internet Governance initiatives and to provide youth with engaging learning experience. Inspired by other simulation activities, such as Model United Nations and European Youth Parliament, Model IGF will explain the foundations of the multistakeholder approach. Presenting positions of governments, technical community, academia and civil society, participants will deeper understand the public policy discussions happening at the actual IGF.

3.The zoom meeting will be used for the support of online participation, there will be time for online question and discussion.
