Policy Question(s)

1. What significant applications and verticals can be considered for metaverse ?
2.How can governments and other stakeholders support the development of effective models in the metaverse?
3. What regulatory frameworks and standards will be needed in the metaverse ?
4. How can this model balance the need for individual autonomy and community decision-making with broader concerns around safety, security, and ethical considerations?
6. How can this model ensure that marginalized communities and underrepresented groups have a voice in decision-making processes, and also the issues of power imbalances and inequality?

What will participants gain from attending this session? Participants and audiences might gain new knowledge and insights into the potential benefits and challenges of decentralized governance models in the context of the metaverse. They may learn about the key principles and mechanisms that underpin effective decentralized decision-making and accountability, and how these might be adapted or expanded to meet the unique needs of the metaverse.

They may also gain a better understanding of the role that governments and other stakeholders might play in supporting or regulating decentralized governance efforts in the metaverse, and how these efforts could help to shape the future development of this emerging digital world. Finally, participants and audiences may gain new tools or frameworks for thinking about governance in the metaverse, and how to approach this complex and rapidly evolving landscape in a thoughtful and strategic way.

Description:

As the metaverse continues to evolve and expand, there will be a growing need for governance structures that can effectively manage and regulate the various digital assets, platforms, and communities that make up this virtual world. Decentralized governance models, such as those used in blockchain and cryptocurrency communities, may offer a promising approach to achieving this goal.

This topic could explore the potential benefits and challenges of decentralized governance in the metaverse context, as well as the key principles and mechanisms that would need to be in place to ensure effective decision-making and accountability. It could also examine how existing models of decentralized governance might be adapted or expanded to meet the unique needs of the metaverse, and what role governments and other stakeholders might play in supporting or regulating these efforts.

Expected Outcomes

1. Increased awareness and understanding of the potential benefits and challenges in the metaverse, among policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the general public.
2. Development of new policy frameworks and guidelines in the metaverse, while ensuring that these models are transparent, accountable, and aligned with broader societal goals.
3. Greater collaboration and coordination between governments, industry stakeholders, and other actors to ensure that these models are interoperable and compatible with existing legal and policy frameworks.
4. Development of new tools and frameworks for thinking about governance in the metaverse, including approaches to balancing individual autonomy and community decision-making with broader concerns around safety, security, and ethical considerations.
5. Increased engagement and representation of marginalized communities and underrepresented groups in decision-making processes related to governance in the metaverse, to promote greater equity and inclusion in this emerging digital world.

Hybrid Format: We will plan to use a range of complementary online tools and platforms, including video conferencing software, chat rooms, and virtual collaboration tools. We will ensure that all speakers and attendees are provided with clear instructions on how to access and use these tools.
We will use a hybrid format that incorporates both live and pre-recorded content, as well as interactive elements . We will also ensure that all content is accessible and engaging for both online and onsite participants, with clear visuals, concise messaging, and opportunities for feedback and discussion.
To increase participation and interaction during the session, we will encourage participants to share their thoughts and ideas through live chat rooms, Q&A sessions, and interactive polls. By leveraging these tools and platforms, we hope to create a dynamic and engaging experience that fosters meaningful dialogue and collaboration between all participants, whether they are attending onsite or online.
