Policy Question(s)

How can the internet collaborate to develop Amazon and help to empower the South American population?

Why do we have to be cautious with Amazon maintenance?

Will people around the globe be benefited by the development of amazon region or is it just market and media speculation?

What will participants gain from attending this session? It’ll understand the real importance of the Amazon Rainforest for the world, not just being stuck in international information produced, sometimes founded on a political or ideological side. It’ll obtain specific information to assess the global action against South America and it’ll be able to think and develop new ideas to evaluate and maybe change actions of government participant’s country objecting to help the development of South America for the correct use of Amazon. Furthermore, it’ll be able to understand the importance of technology and the internet in this changing scenery, the great transformation in quality of life worldwide and the empowerment of people from undeveloped countries. At the final, the participants will understand that it is impossible to talk about the future without thinking about South America and the Amazon Rainforest.

Description:

To set the context, the discussion will begin with the exploration of Addis Ababa Messages from IGF 2022 pertinent to Sustainability and Environment. Our young panelists, leading the change in their respective domains, will discuss the current state of regulation in their regions, and the instrumental role youth are playing towards progression, they will delve into the repercussions of Sustainability challenges on internet governance, and the role of the Great Amazon Rainforest in the global scenario of environmental chaos, and especially how technology relates to this.

The Amazon rainforest has in its structure more than 2500 tree species, 30.000 plants, several minerals, a huge fauna and the biggest hydrographic basin in the world. This whole wealth is concentrated in many countries of South America, but it has the potential to aid people from over all continents with the products we can produce from her. From this point of view, the objective of the proposal is showing how Amazon Forest can collaborate to solve the world food problem, diseases around the globe, climate change and technology development in exchange for investments, technology transmission from developed countries, partnerships with public and social spheres and market integration with South America.

Notwithstanding, this whole plan can just become real if the internet would be the central pillar, in view of the complexity of the structure, being necessary the participation of technology companies, universities, search centers for development and regulation and international institutions as the United Nations. The result of the proposal is not just the economic, social and educational transformation of South America, but the improvement of quality of life worldwide, empowering everyone by the correct use of the internet.
