Description:
This workshop aims to shed light on the critical importance of AI ethics in the rapidly advancing technological landscape. Participants will delve into the multifaceted dimensions of AI ethics, exploring the ethical challenges and potential solutions that arise as AI permeates various sectors of society. Development and sophistication of AI technologies calls for a more transformative approach to address the ethical implications that arise from their use. This workshop will serve as a hub for diverse stakeholders - academics, policymakers, and tech experts - to engage in a constructive dialogue on AI ethics on the following topics:
1. Ethical considerations in AI development and use: examination of ethical challenges that emerge throughout the lifecycle of AIs, including bias and fairness, transparency and explainability, accountability, and privacy.
2. Human rights and AI: exploration of potential impact of AI on human rights, with emphasis on the need to protect fundamental rights including privacy, freedom of expression, and non-discrimination in the context of AI.
3. Role of AI in achieving SDGs: discussion of the potential of AI in addressing pressing global challenges and achieving SDGs while aligning AI applications with ethical principles.
4. Ethical frameworks and governance mechanisms: examination of existing AI ethics guidelines and proposal of implementation guidelines of effective oversight and compliance
The session will be organized around the three policy questions and the discussion contents will make up a white paper on AI ethics
Hybrid Format: - Onsite attendees will be encouraged to engage with online attendees by providing them with the opportunity to ask questions through a chat feature or by calling on them during the Q&A portion of the session
- Proposer will coordinate with IGF secretariat to ensure that all speakers are equipped with high-quality audio and video equipment to make sure that online attendees can hear and see them clearly. Clear instructions will be provided for accessing the online platform and attending the session, including troubleshooting steps for any technical issues that may arise.
- The primary tool for hosting a hybrid session will be Zoom. We will also consider using Mentimeter or Slido for a more interactive session
